About Us

Our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts are aged between 6 and 14 years old. The Pyrford Scout Group is open to boys and girls of every faith and background, and we welcome adult involvement as leaders and assistants.

What we do

We contribute to society positively by enabling local children to develop as caring, responsible and resourceful members of the community.

All sections offer a wide range of age-appropriate activities on a weekly basis. As we progress through the sections, we experience camping, hiking, cycling, canoeing, rafting, wide games and archery. We also do many practical activities such as knot tying and building, ‘backwoods’ cooking and fire starting. As well as this, we participate in District, County, and International events. We learn important lessons on our journey through Scouts, such as respecting the environment and following the Scout Law and much more.

Every year at the Pyrford and Wisley Flower Show we take part in the parade and fundraise for our Group by running the bbq. We also run other fundraising events through the year including a quiz for parents and the local community. We also attend church parade on a regular basis and we have links with the last post ceremony at Brookwood cemetery.

Where we are

During school term periods, our activities take place in and around the Arbor Centre in Pyrford, a large building reserved for Scouts and Guides, with a convenient field and many hike routes from the building.

  • Our Beaver group meets on Wednesdays 18:30 – 19:30.
  • Our Cub group meets on Wednesdays 18:30 – 20:00
  • Our Scout troop meets on Thursdays 19:00 to 20:30.

Once a member, you can follow Pyrford Scout Group sections on our private Facebook pages, where further information about our exciting weekly activities are provided.

About our Leaders

We have very experienced leaders who keep the sessions highly organized, providing many activities and entertaining and educational evenings. They all follow Scout Association guidelines regarding rules, behaviour, child protection and safety to ensure all sections are safe while having fun. We always need new volunteer leaders to help with our active Pyrford Scout Group.

Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
